Your Child’s Visit is Very Important to Us!

It is important to us that your child’s visit is very positive, enjoyable, and fun. A pleasant, comfortable first visit builds trust and helps calm your child in future visits. We will record your child’s dental and medical history, complete a comprehensive exam, and discuss any findings with you. We will review fluoride use, diet, and the importance of a healthy dental routine to ensure a healthy and beautiful smile for life! We will also demonstrate proper tooth brushing techniques and the right amount of toothpaste for your child’s age.

At What Age Should My Child Start Seeing the Dentist?

Along with the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend that a child’s first dental visit be around 1 year old.

How Can I Help Prepare My Child For the Dentist?

You as a parent can help make the first visit an enjoyable experience for your child. Assure your child that their visit will be fun and will help them learn how to brush their teeth well. Encourage your child to share any questions they have or any fears or anxieties; communicating these can be very helpful for your child. Refrain from using any words that may cause unnecessary fear, such as “needle” or “drill.” Our staff will explain every part of the check-up to ensure your child feels safe and comfortable. Consider finding a special book about the dentist and reading it together before your visit.
